Description

Link your accelerator pedal to the carburetor throttle with the Pioneer Automotive Industries Carburetor Accelerator Cable, part number CA-8523. It is a direct-fit replacement for the 1980-1983 Audi 4000. See the Buyer’s Guide tab for application details.

An accelerator cable is the mechanical connection between your foot and the carburetor. When you press the pedal, the cable pulls the throttle linkage open. When you release it, the cable lets the throttle close. Pioneer builds this cable to OE specs, pairing a steel inner cable with a protective polymer housing.

  • Built to OE specs: Pioneer offers this cable as a quality replacement option for the listed application.
  • Steel inner cable: The inner cable is made of durable steel and carries pedal movement to the throttle linkage.
  • Polymer outer housing: The housing protects the inner cable from corrosion and abrasion.
  • Common hardware where applicable: Pioneer notes that its cables often include common brackets, grommets and ends where the application calls for them.

Signs this part may need replacing: A cable wears over time and can fray, kink or bind inside its housing. Watch for a pedal that feels stiff, sticky or notchy, a throttle that is slow to return, or visible fraying or damage to the cable. If a worn cable is the cause, CA-8523 replaces it. Diagnose the throttle linkage and return springs as well, since they can cause similar symptoms.
